You hit the nail on the head.
It scares me, the things doctors say to people. I've had them try to blame everything on aging, too. I'm not THAT old! One doc told me my urinating in my sleep was from "aging." I'm a woman who hasn't even had any kids, so you can't blame it on collapsing bladder. Shortly thereafter, I was talking to a guy who had severe back pain like I do. I asked if he ever took Neurontin (gabapentin) as it helped me be able to sleep with back pain. He replied that it made him lose bladder control. That was my answer! When you report a symptom, doctors should first look at the list of drugs you're taking, but they don't. Granted, my doc had not prescribed it, a specialist had, but I had reported it to him, as each visit his nurse asks if you have had any changes in meds (which is as it should be.) One person on here actually had the doc say Lisinopril wasn't likely the cause of cough, when it is the most well-known side effect! Doctors are like anyone else - they have good and bad days, and sometimes they get lazy at their jobs.
