I wish I never had the mirena put in at all. I've had it for almost 2 years now after the birth of my third child. I let the doctors talk me out of tubal ligation. Boy am I sorry for that. It seemed ok for about a year. My periods slowed down, everything seemed kind of normal. But now I have irregular bleeding, like one woman described as old, stringy blood. My hair is SO thin I had to go out and get extensions, again, like another woman. I cannot lose weight no matter what I try, and I've always been very active and do some hard core work outs. Still, I'm not losing anything. I'm bloated. Headaches seem to be more present. I called my primary care and am making an appt for tubal ligation and removal of this horrible device. Perhaps some women like it. I cannot stand it and can't wait to have it removed. I just hope my hair grows back ok:( Good luck ladies!

I would recomend having your husband get fixed. It's an in-office procedure and so simple with just a couple of days of recovery and very little sorness. The scars, if any, that he will have are only noticable if you look very closely. That verses you being laid up in bed for days and several weeks until full recovery and noticable scarring. Just thought I would suggest throwing that up for discussion. And the only thing the procedure does is rerout the sperm back into the body where they are absorbed. Nothing that is at all noticable and it doesn't effect anything else.

Agreed! Hubby had a vasectomy right after I had the Mirena removed. I was going to get my tubes tied, but being a stay at home Mom with a 1 year old, it would be impossible, considering the healing time involved. After the vasectomy, Hubby was back to work with no complaints after 2 days! Good luck to you.
