I had my Mirena IUD for 5 yrs. and just recently got it removed because I was unable to loose weight. I had a pain on my left side right above my pelvic bone. I told my dr. and she did a ultrasound and said that it was most likely a ovarian cyst that I had. That apparently is one of the side effects of Mirena. It hurt and sometimes radiated down my leg but it hurt most on my left side. If it's causing you that much pain I would talk to your dr. about taking it out. Mine would come and go and it was bearable. Good Luck!

YES!!! I am having the same pain. It's only been 11 days but these long, sharp drawn out pains are terrible. I am also getting a strange, thick discharge that is both bloody and clear??? The pain is usually more intense on one side then the other. This is my second IUD. My first one was PERFECT. Something definitely is wrong.

YES! I was just starting to read on these problems today and I am shocked to find how many women are having the same problems as me! I'm 29 and have had Mirena for 9 mos and all of a sudden developed labor type pains, extreme bloating and water weight gain, nausea, headaches, fatigue...and OMG acne like I have NEVER had in my life! I have had 3, count them 3 periods in 2 weeks. I am miserable. Reading what others have written, I'm contacting my obgyn to have it removed.

i am sooo glad i came on this site i thought i was about to die or something i had the mirena put in when i had my daughter feb of last year i didnt have any problems that i noticed and thats probably because i blamed every sympton i've had since the baby on the graves disease i was diagnosed with when i was pregnant with her!! tonight i was having intercourse with my husband and i had to push him off of me for the pain i was in I THOUGHT I WAS IN LABOR!!! but i knew i couldnt be pregnant! i couldnt stand up straight my legs were shaking like crazy i was sweating all over the place. it felt like my uterus, falopian tubes and everything else was just hanging from my vagina the pain i had trying to stand oh my goodness!!! i just went to the er for the worst headache ever that lasted two days n i blamed it on the graves and of course if the docs dont know they will just agree with you. the pain is just now starting to subside i thought i would have to go throught er again im glad there is a site like this with folks just like me~~~

I had my kidneys checked because i thought i had a growth or something with the pain i had..it was semi permanent and scared me.. I am huge now as opposed to 9 stone when i started with mirena.. I am 13 stone. I had it removed three weeks ago and although my stomach is still bloating and i am still fat..I have not got that pain anymore. Thank God. I just want my body back.

Ment to say...Had major scare then discovered ovarian cyst size of golf ball..due to coil. I have never had symptoms like these and have never been fat..its horrid to look like a binging greedy person..I gained weight even if i didnt eat... Does anyone know how long it can take to get rid of the weight?
