Wow! I must be the latest in a long line of Lipitor users and app...

Wow! I must be the latest in a long line of Lipitor users and apparently pain sufferers. I have been on Lipitor for over a year. I am 56 years old, active and healthy (thank God). Around November 2008, I noticed a "twinge" in my left hip while sleeping. This has gotten progressively worse over the months and I thought it was due to arthritis (which runs in my family). But after reading these blogs, I am not so sure. If anyone has anything definitive regarding this, ie: tests, studies, etc., I would really appreciate a point in the right direction for more information. I was thinking (until today) that I was headed for hip surgery or something equally drastic. Now that I have a clue that it may be the Lipitor, I want to investigate further and then, if necessary, change to another medication that won't break me down like this. My heart goes out to anyone that has suffered through hip pain. It is a miserable, painful condition that saps your energy and your desire to even move sometimes. I appreciate any help you can offer. God bless all of you. - L. B. ******

I suggest that you stop taking this poison before you have more side effects. All of the statins are the same. Go to www.lipitor.com and you will see MANY of the side effects. The drs. and the drug co.'s have a HUGE racket.

I have never taken statins - nor would I. I have seen people suffer from serious side effects and that made me do my own "research" and that`s what I would suggest that you do to.

Here are some suggestions:

Visit www.spacedoc.net (you can get free news letters and there is also a Forum there)

Read Duane Gravelines book Lipitor - thief of memory.

The Great Cholesterol Con (Anthony Colpo)

The Cholesterol Myths (Uffe Ravnskov)

Google "Stopped our statins". Read the interesting article from Weston Price Foundation. It`s about different statin studies and side effects

To get an overall view of the pharmaceutical business I would suggest:

The Truth About The Drug Companies (Marcia Angell)
Overdosed America (John Abramson)
Malignant Medical Myths (Joel F. Kauffman)

On www.thincs.org there is an interesting article by Marcia Angell - Drug Companies & Doctors: A Story of Corruption

The best thing you can do for your self and others is to "educate" your self and trust your own feelings.

Without the suffering of people near to me I would not know what I know today.

I have cardiovascular disease - and continue to have a very active life.
One of the "medications" I take is fish oil - as recommended by a cardiologist. It just so happens that a British study has just shown that of alternative treatments for arthritis fish oil scores five out of five for effectiveness. My new cardiologist is a fan of flax seed oil to boost the Omega-3's (I have no idea how this affects arthritis).
As it is implied that you have a cholesterol problem I would recommend reading "Cholesterol Down" by Janet Bond Brill - it gives excellent dietary advice in a palatable manner!
Also taking a statin reduces your CoQ10, which you can take a supplement for.
Try googling "pneumonia vaccine heart attack" and you will find an interesting Canadian study - I had a pneumonia vaccine within days of reading this.
I haven't answered your question! I no longer take cholesterol reducing medication and have no idea what my level currently is. I stopped by forgetting to take the medication and then positively quitting.

I had an unneeded total hip replacement. I saw my xrays and most of my cartilage was still there with "some" arthritis. The pain in both hips was cruel and I was expecting the other hip to be replaced, which showed some arthritis, lots of my other joints were quite painful. 20 months later I still haven't fully recovered from my hip replacement I'm sure the reason for the slow recovery is because all my statin damaged leg muscle can't repair itself from the knife cut. My other hip does not now need replacing and only ever gives me some mild discomfort. This saga was wholly caused through statins. like you I was extremely active in all areas of life, today I can just keep up with a 9 yr old on a single speed bmx bike with me on a full sized 27 speed road bike. You were lucky you found this site when you did, I wished I had have found it earlier. I don't think I will ever fully recover. Best.

Everyone's responses seem to be saying the same thing. The Bible says that in the multitude of counsel there is safety. I thank all of you for your responses and advice. I am making an appointment to see my PCP as soon as possible. At the very least, we will discuss this ever-increasing hip pain. At the most, I will have the Lipitor halted. After the last few weeks, diet and excerise do not seem like such a bad idea (smile). Thank all of your for your candor and wise advice. My thoughts and prayers to all of you.

Don't be surprised if you dr. tries to encourage you to continue to take this poison or another statins. Drs. all they know is to push drugs . . . instead of natural products and alternatives.

If I can help you, please let me know.

Lipitor induces an artificial reduction in cholesterol, and bypasses all the healthy benefits of exercise.
