You're out of your league here. There are hundreds and hundreds of documented cases where the victim's side effects go away after stopping the drug. How do you explain that? This is real.
Hey, why don't you sit down for a couple of hours and read the more than 2000 posts of people who have come here to help figure out if this medication just might be behind the suffering that they or their children have experienced. Don't you think they thought about other causes? In most cases, the depression, anxiety and strange behavior seemed to come out of nowhere. If there were other potential causes, you can be sure they were considered. But the symptoms were disproportionate to the typical causes. It was only when the medicine was stopped that the symptoms began to lift. Please don't insult all the people who have the courage to come here and tell their stories. If it hadn't been for people posting here, my son would probably still be suffering from a terrible anxiety disorder that -at age six- prevented him from being able to socialize and make friends - he couldn't even look at people. Then he started becoming obsessed with death and saying he hated to smile. It was only after stopping the Singulair that the crippling anxiety began to lift and he was able to smile again. You come here and blithely make these comments like you know what you're talking about. You don't. There are probably still thousands of families who are still suffering because of Singulair and I hope these stories can help at least some of them. Think before you blog.
I usually do not take the time to reply to posts like yours, but I guess I have a few spare moments, and you apparantely have nothing but time to kill since you took time to "enlighten" the entire group of folks here with your expertise. The people you mention having the same symptoms and not on Singulair may very well be having effects from some other medication, whether OTC or prescription. For those who are not, they may very well have the true form of neuropyschiatric conditions and should be seen as such.
Singulair is not the only med with adverse side effects - and how and why did you visit this site in the first place? I can probably safely say we all wish you well in whatever you were searching for and we are grateful you have not suffered from Singulair, but plenty have.
The FDA has acknowledged that "the clinical details of some reports involving montelukast are consistent with a drug-induced effect." And has recommended that "patients and prescribers should monitor for the possibility of neuropsychiatric events."
When a medication has side effects as severe as neuropsychiatric symptoms, you can't educate enough. Psychiatric illness is a documented risk factor for suicide. No child's life or quality of life should be put at risk for a medication that has never been scientifically proven the most effective treatment for allergies OR asthma. Going "overboard" prevents innocent children from needless suffering. Precious, innocent, CHILDREN!
We should all be disturb, that a drug like singulair with the devastating side effects that are possible, and acknowleged by its maker, still today is passed out on a regular basis to small children, who cannot articulate how they feel, whos parents voices are drowned out by so called professionals, who say this drug remains safe. The secret of this drug will show its ugly head one day,,and i am proud to be one of the people speaking out.May this never happen to you or one of your family members
May God bless you in the name of Jesus, that's the least and the best you can be told. I guess you probably have no children of your own or you would be on the same thing.
When you have a perfectly normal child who most of the time is a humble, compassionate, sometimes overly affectionate child and then she becomes the total opposite, yeah singulair is the cause. My child took it for 3 months. The 1st month the behavior started changing. Not listening, talking back, refusing to do as told.By the 2nd month it was getting much worst .I was getting calls from school every day at about the same time.Singulair is taken once daily at bed time. The behavior would change around the same time every day .Sudden outburst, tantrums, sceaming for long periods of time.getting physical with the school staff, and other things Id rather not even mention.I cant even believe this is the same child.I Had to question myself. Had anything changed in the past 3 months? I went over it over and over again until it hit me .I got on my computer and started looking up singulair.Boy was i suprised. My MD said no way .She didnt believe that the meds could be causing all these problems. She made me take my daughter for a phyciatric evaluation.I still requested for her to be taken off the Singulair and she s been off for 3 wks now.The only change is the screaming fits stopped. The other stuff continues, and my child who would normally be afraid to be out and about by herself, could have lost her life earlier this week.My child got herself suspended from school and took the news pretty hard .The next morning i was asleep and she always gets up and makes her own bowl of cereal.I heard her in the kitchen and yelled "clean your mess when your done."I went back to sleep. When i woke up she was gone. One of my worst nightmares was now reality.I was terrified.Ipulled myself together and relized that she had taken off and went to school by herself. She took a big risk.2 long blocks.2 big streets, the 2nd street being very very dangerous .The crossing guard had already left the sight.Just the thouht of that huge street or someone taking her and hurting her was so scary. THANK GOD shes safe but the behaviors are still an issue. Before singulair none of this was happening and i dont even know who this little girl is but shes definantely not the same little girl i have been raising for 7 years .I miss her and I pray she returns soon.TO THE PERSON WHO POSTED THE COMMENT... IF YOU DIDNT GO THROUGH WHAT OTHERS HAVE GONE THROUGH WITH THE SINGULAR DRUG DONT BE SO QUICK TO JUDGE.OUR BODYS ARE DIFFERENT AND SOME OF US HAVE A BAD REACTION TO MEDS.
What an ignorant statement to make, you don't find it troublesome that the same side effects are happening to these people and then when they quit the medication it stops? The hundreds of people that have committed suicide while taking this medication is more than enough reason to "go overboard about".
Just one person dying from adverse side effects is too many.
