Hi Everyone, I took my Mirena out myself 3 days ago. I have made a couple comments on this site about it, but now I have my own questions. When I first took it out I was thrilled for it just to be gone. I still am, only I feel lousy. My head hurts, and I'm cramping, which is probably because I started bleeding yesterday... first period since insertion (unless you count the month of bleeding that followed that). Anyway, my head is killing me, I'm exhausted and today I woke up and all I want to do is cry! Maybe it's just what they call the "hormone crash" or maybe it's my period. I'm also experiencing stomach aches and lightheadedness. I don't feel like myself! I am so tired and my back is still killing me. How long does THAT take to go away?? When am I supposed to feel like myself again?? If anyone out there has answers, I'd appreciate hearing them!

Hi Ladies,

I'm so glad that I found this forum about Mirena. I had the Mirena for 2 months and had it removed today. After reading this forum and doing some further research I noticed that my recent symptoms were due to the mirena. Last month, I had severe dry eyes and the doctor told me to use Thera Tears. That didn't help and my vision got worse, it was very blurry that I couldn't use the computer. I was referred to an eye doctor specialist that prescribed me with Restasis for 30 days. And after doing further research I found that other woman encounter the same problem with their visions after having the Mirena.

And just like many of the postings, I gain weight and was having a hard time losing it, even after dieting and working out 4-5 days a week. I also had a lot of cramps during the time that I had it.

You will start feeling better soon. you HAVE to give it time. These hormones and chemical imbalance will not disappear over night. Hang in there!

I, too thought the same thing after I had it removed, that I would feel better immediately and I became so impatient...I think it all depends how long you had it, how sensitive you were to the hormone, when in your cycle you got it out, etc...I will say that I got it out 4 weeks ago. The first week I felt the flu like symptoms and slept for a majority of the day....then i started slowly losing the side effects, in fact by the second week I was feeling much better after noontime until bedtime.....then by the end of the second week i was pretty much symptom free. Also two weeks ago I ovulated for the first time since I had Mirena inserted (in Oct of 2008), I had the telltale signs that I used to get. I have not had a period yet (though I did bleed a couple of days post removal), but i'm back to my normal self and have my energy back!! Hang in there, give it time....and try to be patient (which is something I wasn't!!!) I had "morning sickness" feeling the first week post removal as well....
