Your doctor stated that "you abused your body?" Sorry, but the truth here is that your doctor has abused you. And Yes the experiences of others posted here has great significance. Your physician is sweeping the truth under the rug by prescribing pain medication for a condition that he induced out of criminal negligence.

I understand the pain you are going through. As long as you continue to take a statin, chances for recovery wil deminish.

The simvastatin came within a few days of taking my life. I'm 55 yr male had been taking the poison for about 4 years. Some days I was taking 5 x 20 mgs oxycontin (slow release oxycodone) and crushing up to 6 neurofin plus as well. I need to warn you I got far worse for a 2 - 3 months after stopping the med before I improved, but had I not stopped I would be very very dead. There are many brand names of statins on this site, Lipitor has the most write ups. I also suggest you log on to bobby's profile above. If you read all his historic postings you will learn valuable information he has been inspirational in helping so many of us. Also look at spacedoc dot net. You don't state whether you are male or female, I know a few people personally who are getting buy ok now. It is the absolute pits at our age that we don't trust our doctor any more, most of us who have been through this are now scared for our lives because we don't know who to trust. But consider this why should a 71 yr old have the same cholestrol count as a baby, teenager, sports star etc etc the whole cholestrol thing I now firmy believe is absolute B*** S**t. My wife has a good mate at wateraerobics who walks to the pool twice a week does her 1 hr session then walks home again. She's 95 yrs young old enough to be your mum so you have got a lot to look forward to. Best from New Zealand.

I totally agree with the previous writers although I have no personal experience in taking statins. But a very dear friend did and I will never fortget his suffering.

The attitude from doctors seem to be the same all over the world.

I live in Sweden and do my best to "educate" about the risks with statins.

We don“t have any sites like this one i Sweden but there is a big grass roots movement on the Internet when it comes to Low-Carb-High-Fat Diet for loosing weigth and diabetes2.

www.kostdoktorn.se
I think that the articles can be translated from Swedish into English.

I love the Internet - without it I would have no idea about the risks of statins and that there are different views on the cholesterol issue.

People seems to have been brain washed to think that everything needs to be "cured" with medications.

Muscle pain is a known side effect in 9% of cases according to Mayo clinic. I would suggest lowering or eliminating the 500mg Naproxen. I took it for knee pain and I ended up with two rapidly bleeding ulcers which nearly killed me. My internist said that 200mg was the most that should be taken and with Nexium or similar to boot. I am very wary of any NSAID now.
