omg, im 32 years old been on zocor for 3 months now and am experiencing dizziness and disassociation with myself. I know now that it is from the drug. It seems like i want to sleep all the time. I was pretty convinced it was from stress but i have been in war in Iraq and under stress-post war depression and its nothing like statin side effects!! I went on statins because of a genetic disorder that runs in my family, the cause, well high cholesterol. Now my levels are fine but i feel like im a zombie most days? i know in the long run its healthier for my heart and veins to have low levels but at what extent? i think im going to go off for a few weeks and then back on it.

Please visit www.spacedoc.net (Forum to the right).

All statins have similar side effects so it`s good to read as many stories as possible nut just about the statin that you are taking.

The side effects can come at once, or after many years.

Personally, I have never taken any statins - neither would I - because I have seen people close to me suffer from side effects and when I realised that it was too late.

Many people suffer from pains etc. and get completely different diagnosis - like reuamtism, artiritis, fibromyalgia etc.

Are you sure that it`s high cholesterol that`s causing heart attacks etc.?

There are doctors/scientists with other opinions.

Here are som books that you might find interesting:

The Great Cholesterol Con (Anthony Colpo)
Lipitor - thief of memory (Duane Graveline)
Malignant Medical Myths (Joel F. Kauffman)
Overdosed America (John Abramson)
The Cholesterol Myths (Uffe Ravnskov)
www.ravnskov.nu

The Truth About The Drug Companies (Marcia Angell)

Google "Stopped our statins" a very informative site.
Under "articles to print" to the left, you will find an interesting article from Weston Price Foundation about the different statin studies and side effects (one of which is depression).

There is a world wide net work of cholesterol sceptic doctors/scientists (www.thincs.org). Under "News" there is an interesting article by Marcia Angell. She is the author of one of the books that I mention above.

I think it`s important to know why you start a certain medication (risks/benefits, long term side effects etc.) but it`s also important to know why you stop.

So the best thing that you can do for yourself and people around you is to "educate" your self on medical issues and have a critical eye.

Good luck from Sweden
