I have suffered from migraines for over twenty years! Topamax is the ONLY drug that works for me. I have been on it for two years now. I have tried at least 50 others in my life. I am afraid of the long term side effects, but I can live pain free now! This is important to me and my family. The quality of my life has improved 100%. I do not miss family functions due to a migraine! The numbness, strange taste of some foods, and weight loss ( unfortunately) went away after 6 to 9 months on the drug. I did try to go off the drug and after 18 months and my migraine returned! I may have to take this longer. For now, I have had two wonderful years!
