I started Loestrin 24 FE March 2008; my doc advised me that this was a good pill to take-low dose. When I was on the first pack my cycle was spotty and slightly irregular-which is normal since your system is getting used to the product. By the second-third pack my cycle was regular and lasted only 1-2 very light days and I liked that. However, by the third pack going into the fourth; I started noticing I was feeling down, lack of energy, restless sleeping habits, moodiness and agitated over everything, shaky hands and anxiety. I also noticed a change in my weight; I was losing weight-not alot but I did lose about 5-7lbs. I was a size 6-8 and happy with my size; like poeple who don't want to gain-at 5'7" I didn't want to lose any weight. Trust me, I'm normally a healthy eater with a big appetite, happy person who smiles alot and feel good most of the time (we all have our days) but these new feelings were not normal for me. When I discussed these symptoms with my doc she said this was normal for the first few months with this pill. I even spoke with ladies who work at the reception desk; all had been on or off of this pilll and said they experienced the same symptoms the first three months. I decided to hang in there and hope it would get better. Some of the symptoms did get better; like the anxious feelings and depression improved. These feelings are miserable and you can't shake them off no matter how gard you try. This comes from the hormones-I did research online and by speaking with people who take any form of BC Pill and all of these symptoms seem to be the same. My hair was also effected by this pill; my hair before this pill was healthy-thick and shoulder length. This pill has caused me hair loss; the back of my hair broke off several inches and is now short; I don't have any bald spots and my hair is normally healthy and thick but I didn't understand why it was breaking off-my scalp was never dry-my hairdresser noticed the changes since I had been on the pill. I get regular physicals and my health and blood work was completely normal as it had been for years. I was shocked when I looked online nad saw so many people who were on this pill and other forms of pills who suffered hair loss, weight gain/loss, moodiness-depression, etc. I stpped taking this pill on Feb. 22 and I know I will return to the way I used to feel and I'm confident my hair will grow back-it's still thick but short-hormones from the pill can really take a toll on your body. I've never had acne or experienced it while taking BC but you may want to speak with your doc and see a dermatologist or Esthetician-reguar deep facials can help as well. Sometimes acne is a phase and will possibly go away. The last thing you need is BC pill that's going to make you feel down even more or cause other problems and outeven more hormones in your body. The pill although it's known for helping with acne; is meant to assist with preventing pregnancy. I would suggest taking something made especially for acne. I wouln't want you to experience these other symptoms on top of the acne issue. I wish you the best and try speaking with a Dermatologist further and/or an Esthetician-intense facials could really help.
thanks for the feed back!!!!! I really appreciate it. I'm going to give this pill about three months like my doctor said and see how it goes. I hope my body responds to it well.
My doctor also put me on this pill because endometriosis...and I still develop cysts in despite of not having my period (I take the pills consecutively, non stop).
Major drawback: I've gained Weight! I started to gain weight and it’s taking me advanced spinning classes to see if I can loose the extra pounds…
I have been beginning to see a difference in my hair ever since I started this pill. My gyno prescribed it to me for acne and it definitely is doing its job with the acne factor. But my hair is beginning to thin out. I've been on it for 2 months. I'm just scared that my hair will remain like this. I've been doing some research and the sites claim that regrowth is almost impossible? Does anyone have any postive input? I want my hair to be what it was before BC.
