I am 68yr old female with neuropathy in both feet and it feels like it is traveling up my legs slowly. My fingers are very sensitive and sometimes they itch uncontrollably. My fingernails are brittle and hair loss has subsided since I cut my dosage of lipitor from 60 mg to 40mg. I was also on lisinopril - and quit it about 3 months ago. I have been reduced to a sitting zombie - not able to sleep at night and able to sit for 3 hours every day unable to move - am I doomed to this life because of lipitor?

You have the classic side effects from this dangerous drug. Your dosages are pretty high. I suggest that you stop taking this poison ASAP. I stopped taking it over a year now and I still have side effects. I am taking natural products to help my side effects and to control my cholesterol.
If interested, I would be happy to help you.

laramie, No, you are not doomed to alife as a "sitting zombie". You said you are a 68 year old female with brittle finger nails, and that caught my attention! Have you been checked for hypothyroidism?

Brittle fingernails is a symptom of low thyroid. By the time females reach age 65, about 17% are hypothyroid. This would cause an increase in cholesterol since your metabolism would be slower, failing to burn off excess lipids.

People with thyroid issues are at high risk for side effects from statins.

Just a guess on my part based upon the info in your posting.
