I am so thankful I found this site. I wish I would have found this before I got my Mirena inserted. I had been on the pills(orthotricyclen) for years. I have two children my husband and I decided we did not want anymore, but just in case we did later on, we decided to do a more permanent birth control. Something I did not have to worry about wach day. I got the Mirena in late October 2008. I really trusted my Dr. when she told me all about how great this was and that everyone loved it! Well, I have wanted to get it removed twice since Oct. My Dr. told me to give it more time. I started out experiencing bad cramps!! I still have sharp cramps and pain off and on at any time. Then I begin having BAD acne in my chin area. I mean like very sore knots. It was like it started on one side and then just spread all over my chin area. oNE WOULD LEAVE AND ANOTHER WAS RIGHT behind it I have never had problems with acne before. When I mentioned this to my Dr. at my January 09 appt. she told me acne was not a side effect of the mirena, but I don't know where it could be coming from. I decided to have it removed. My appt is this Fri. 27 at 10:20. I can't wait. I am really hoping that I can get my body back on track and tame this acne. I think I am just going to go back to what I am used to.....the pill and stick with it. I tried something new, and it has not been a good experience for me. Now, after reading a few of the posts I am concerned about the effects I will have once it is removed. I will come back and let you know. Thanks to all the ladies who have posted here. It really confirms my decision to have the Mirena removed. THANK YOU!!
