All these stories touch home. I recently lost my metal strings. My mate said he hasn't felt them for a while now. Men I sware wouldn't it be nice if they told us these things. I have extreme pain in my ovaries for the last two weeks, the pain is so bad it makes me ill. My mood has been fine however I do tend to cry easily. So I guess I am emotional. I like a dumb arz threw away all the papers the doctor gave me after he inserted the iud. I just wanted to forget about it because it hurt so bad. I am tired a lot more, I started taking diet pills to boost my energy and even they don't work. I am breast feeding only at night now because it drains me so much. After reading all of your comments I want this thing out of me. I am totally freaking out about the iud being lost in my uterus. I hope i'm not pregnant and miscarrying. The pain I fel resembles a miscarriage. I was have symptoms of pregnancy early on when I first got it put in. I'm so tired of bleeding and the embarrassing odor. I thought it was an infection but was to embarrassed to see the doctor about it. I guess it's another side effect. So we are the gunie pigs for this New IUD. Great..... I'm calling kaiser Monday to have it taken out hopefully it doesn't hurt to much. Over the counter meds won't help that area of the body if they do have to dig around to find it. I am positive it is not in my cervix because I checked. Ugh.....

Yeah, men just don't think much, do they. I could relate when you mentioned the diet pills. I started talking ephedrine / Slimquick for energy as soon as i quit breastfeeding. It worked for a while.. I took off about 20 lbs too. Then after a few months I could even take my second dose of the stuff in the afternoon, and go take a nap... after eating 100 chocolate chips with a cup of peanut butter too! So much for appetite control.. That Mirena is birth control because no one wants to have sex with you.. You're too fat, tired, bitchy, smelly, dry, asexual, achy, sleep deprived... need i go on? LOL. Get that thing out hon, and it may not be my place to say.. but diet pills while breastfeeding? I know you're only nursing at night.. I almost had my husband convinced I could do that but he made me quit nursing. I was breastfeeding because it was the healthiest thing for my baby girl, but then having that stuff in my system.. not so good for her. Kind of defeats the purpose. Is your baby sleeping ok? Gaining weight ok? How is your appetite on the diet pills? I hope I'm not being too personal..

I too wanted it OUT and the GYN could not find my strings; they had "piggytailed" into my uterus and I'm not going to lie, it hurt horribly b/c he dilated my cervix to 5 cm (like having a baby) to put in the forceps to go "fishing". Mine was lodged in my uterine wall and it hurt like mad, but I took two morphine tablets b/4 the appt; he told me that was a mistake that the best pain relief for the cervical area to stop the cramping during dilation (to get the forceps in to dig around) is Advil (Ibuprofen). Take 4 (800mg) which is the prescription-strength dose but be sure and eat b/c it can make your stomach hurt.

Good luck; although the pain was awful, it was over as soon as he took the forceps out and I feel 100% better. It's my opinion that when the strings go into your uterus, the device floats around and looks for a "home" and then gets stuck in your uterine wall and that's when it causes bad side effects (like pains, numbness, etc.). That's my theory, anyway. GOOD LUCK!!! You won't regret the removal.
