I had exactly same problems., I was in agony (like contractions) about 15 mins after having it inserted for around 4 hrs. The day after I couldn't find the strings (think the muscle spasms 'sucked' it up! Had to go for a scan four weeks later and it was there but really high up. Anyway, had it in for around 4-5 months, piled weight on and had spots so had it removed in December and opted for the Copper Coil. Heavier periods as opposed to none but happier in myself now. Still need to shift the weight but stopped smoking this weekend so not sure if that will happen now! Hope all goes okay for you. x
I had the same problems and I agree with you on the pain, if I had known before hand I wouldn't have gotten it either.I couldn't find or feel my strings as well and was really concerned. I just went for my 4 weeks scan this past Thursday and it turns out all is well. The Mirena is in the correct position and everything is fine. I was told by my nurse that I couldn't feel my strings because in the past they have had problems with people either causing an infection from dirty hands or pulling it out by trying to do a check. My main problem right now is the foul smell that I am having at this moment. I have never had a smelly discharge before and was convinced that it had to be a side effect from the Mirena. After reading some of the postings I know that my conclusion was right. Other than the discharge I have not had a problem; however, I have only had it for a month and 5 days. Does anyone have any advice on how to get rid of this God awful smell?
