I am 31 years old and I FINALLY have relief from the pain caused by endo. I have been dealing with this crap for about 14 years. I have only been on it for 1 month. The hot flashes are TERRIBLE!! But I guess it beats the pain. I have been reading some of the other people that have posted their side effects. Some of you are saying that you have been on Lupron for 1 year or even 2 years. My Dr. says you can only use if for 6 months. I guess I should've asked more questions. Any suggestions on what to do about the hot flashes - other than put a fan in my face??

The hot flashes SUCK don't they?!! I carried a hand fan with me 24 hours a day! After the first three months of agony from them, I told my doctor at my next appointment and he suggested adding the "add back" therapy, which is a low dose progesterone pill. It worked wonders on the hot flashes, night sweats, nausea, and sleepless nights. I also visited a naturalistic doctor who told me to lay off of sugar, as it is a "trigger" for hot flashes. I eat a lot of fruit, but was eating the fruit with the most sugar, like oranges, watermelon, bananas. She told me to eat apples, kiwi, some citrus fruit like pineapple, mango, cherries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, etc. I have the worst sweet tooth but have found making a fruit smoothie with fruit, yogurt, flax seed, a little honey, really fills you up all morning and kicks the sugar craving. She also told me to lay off all soda, fruit juice and drink water, water, water. A ton of it - as it replenishes the "moisture" you lose during the dreaded hot flashes and keeps you hydrated. You know that exhausted feeling you get when the hot flash passes? She said to immediately drink a large glass of water and eat a string cheese or yogurt to replace the fluids and calcium in your body. Apparently, having your body be depleated of estrogen for such a long period of time decreases your it's ability to store calcium so load up on the milk (organic, without the hormones) cheese, yogurt and greens. It's an awful feeling - I'm 30 and received my first Lupron shot one year ago. My doctor told me it would only be in my system for 6 months, but here I am, one year later hotter than ever!!! I am yet to have a period. But through it all, the progesterone pill made a world of difference - I felt like myself again - especially when it helped me sleep. Hope all the information helps!

I've been on the Lupron shot for abuot 4 months now. The hot flashes suck but are only a small drawback to being nearly cured of the pain. And the intense cravings too (or am i the only one experiencing that?). For the hot flashes, I would talk to your gyno about the add back therapy. I have experienced that they are the worst at night while I sleep so I began to have a fan on, even in the winter. If it makes you a little chilly, add a blanket on because when the hot flash kicks in, the fan will cause immense amounts of comfort.
