I agree with you, something should be done. Similar reactions happened to me in August 2008 when I was given Avelox samples by my doctor for a sinus infection. I asked for a Z-pack, since that always worked, and the nurse told me this worked the same way. Doubtful, I took it as prescribed and within a day had a large, red scaly patch on my neck. After 3 days, I stopped taking the pills and went back to the doctor. Of course, the doctor scoffed at the medication being the culprit and said that I worried myself into an adverse reaction, as if that could happen! He stated that the rash would get worse, which it did, and that it would take several weeks before it would completely work itself out of my body, which it did. Needless to say, I have not gone back to this doctor and will not. I presented his office with the side effects that others were having that were similar to mine, and their only question was if I got the info from the internet. So, many months and strange symptoms later, I now list this medication as one I am allergic to and tell anyone I can how dangerous it is. Plus, it did not help my sinus infection, actually delayed the treatment of it and I had to use an urgent care clinic physician to get the medicine I asked for in the first place! It took two rounds but after about a month and a half it was over. My experience has caused me to be extra vigilant about what is prescribed to me, as well as my children. This medication should not be on the market, and as the urgent care physician told me, this is a level IV drug that should only be used when others have failed. This is a classic case of a doctor letting the pharmaceutical company prescribe to the patient instead of going with what works. I have sinus infections at least once a year, and the z-pack always worked. I filed an adverse reaction form with the FDA (??) on Avelox; I suggest you do too. Hope this reply was helpful. We can't all be crazy; this stuff has got to be banned.
I have had these exact same reactions. And doctors just want to write more scripts that end up making you worse instead of finding out the cause.
It sounds like you have candidia yeast (a fungal infection) which an antibiotic will make worse. Start on a good probiotic something with20 billion micro-organisms or more. Also coconut oil (pill form) or you can eat the oil start slow, 2 pills at night or 2 tsps of the oil, work your way up to 10 pills or 3 tablespoons. Also olive leaf extract, oil of orengano, garlic, and Pau D' Arco will help. These are all in pill form. You will notice a difference in a few weeks if not sooner
A good website about this is : www.knowthecause.com
