Hi . I am a 69yr old male. My doctor has recently increased my Lipitor from 20 to 40mg. My cholesterol reading was 3.6 which he considered to high after a quad bypass. I am suffering painful cramps down the front of both lower legs as well as cramps down the back of my lower right leg. I plan to revert to 20mg to see if the cramps stop. I am not sure if I should stop completely.

I suggest that you stop taking this dangerous drug before you have more side effects. I am a victim of this poison, so, I know. All statins are a HUGE racket for the drs. and the drug co's. There are many natural products to control your cholesterol, if necessary.

If i had my time again I would certainly slowly decrease the medication. My count was 3.6 I had been on the medicine for about 4 yrs when I ceased the medicine things got a lot worse before they improved. There are medical professionals whom would state that a cholestrol count of 3.6 at 69 yrs is dangerously low. A reasonable amount of cholestrol is as essential for human function as food and water. Why on earth at our age should any of our body readings be the same as an olympic athlete? makes no sense at all. Check out spacedoc dot net you will learn a lot. Be patient in your healing time, some folk heal in weeks some take years but you should certainly feel improvements within a couple of months. High doses of high quality fish oil and high quality COQ10 are your very best friends at the moment. Best to you from New Zealand.

I have started taking 4000mg of Fish Oil and 2000mg of Garlic per day to counteract the reduction in Lipitor.
Does anyone else do similar?

I wouldn't suggest taking those huge dosages . . . you could get adverse effects. Both of them could help control your cholesterol. . . . I still suggest that you stopped takling this poison drug . . . . .your choice.
