yea same thing happened to me but my doctor said be proud of that low blood pressure and its nothing to be concerned about. Im surprised they put you on 20 mg, my doctor put me on 10 mg and my blood pressure used to be 145/95, now averaging 115/73
i would not panic on getting off the drug, many are just making up dramas on this site to see who gets the most attention, for me, i did get the cough and dry throat, but mostly due to the cold weather, otherwise im fine, you cant let every body ache in your body be blamed on this drug.
Joepro, ignorance is truly not bliss, I don't care what they say. For God's sake, why would anyone in their right mind make up these symptoms for drama sake? Do you realize how crazy you sound? I think Lisinopril is already affecting your mental capacities. You are in complete denial yourself as you said you have the cough, cold weather in and of itself does not give someone a cough.
This medication almost killed me with heart failure and kidney failure. You remain a slave to Lisinopril and let it harm you. The rest of us are moving on.
I also think Joepro50 has lost some of his thinking apparatus. Blood pressure as low as you're talking about is nothing to be "proud of," it's a health risk. And cold weather alone doesn't cause a consistent cough. You don't have to "demand" to be taken off the drug - it's your body - refuse to take it. Demand a different approach. I also agree that doctors need to emphasize exercise and good diet rather than dumping drugs on us for everything. My niece saw the TV commercial for a drug and said she needs it for Restless Leg Syndrome. I told her she needs more magnesium in her diet or to take a magnesium pill. Could be potassium, too. Always, always better to take a natural substance than a drug, which is by definition UN-natural and seen by your body as foreign and dangerous.
HELLO ALL
I HAVE BEEN TAKING LISINOPRIL TOOK IT FOR 8 DAYS AND WITHIN THOSE 8 DAYS SIDE EFFECTS CHARLIE HOARSE IN BOTH CALVES ON A NIGHTLY BASIS, EXTREAMLY DRY COUGH AND MILD SORE THROAT, FATIGUE, NECK SHOULDERS AND BACK SPASAMS AT THE SAME TIME, ITCHING WENT TO BED ON TUESDAY WITH PERFECT VISION WITH GLASSES WOKE UP ON WEDNSDAY COULD BARELY SEE OUT OF GLASSES AND COULD NOT SEE ANYTHING AT NIGHT DRIVING. HAS ANYONE EXPERIENCED CHANGES IN EYESIGHT?
Joepro50, why would anyone take the time to visit this site and write a post making up symptoms? I, for one, have better things to do. I am writing to help others who might benefit from my experience.
I had a similar experience to 'marelange1' while taking Lisinopril HCT, but without the cough or the extremely low BP. I had extreme brain, arm, and neck fatigue and very interrupted light sleep. Oh, and the weight gain. About 10 lbs.
My experience with Diovan was much the same.
I now consider myself simply "salt-sensitive" and am using sea salt and taking over-the-counter potassium and magnesium. Both have helped my edema (swelling of the lower legs).
Remember, the drug companies have adjusted the definition of hypertensive so that more people fall into this category. "Yahoo!! More potential customers!" Are these people with 130/90 BP really hypertensive? Twenty years ago they weren't, but now they get Lisinopril HCT or Diovan HCT and pretty soon they are really sick!!
Hope you are doing well,
Janet
