I understand your pain. I had it put in feb 2009 and removed 3 wks later (which was last wk.) In those 3 wks, i had every symptom you have. the weight gain, itchy scalp, sore boobs, no energy, almost a depressed state of mind. I had tingles and numbness in my legs and OMG the cramping was horrible. So i had it taken out and in one week i feel so much better. the bloated stomach has finally gone down. Get it removed. its so bad for you as you can read from the other postings. No one should feel so sick and horrible all the time. Good Luck! :)

Hi ladies. I got Mirena January 7, 2009 and am ecstatic to say that I had it REMOVED on March 25th. The doctor tried to talk me out of it and told me that she didn't believe that any of the side effects (except for the bleeding--I think I may have had 10 days, or less, where I wasn't bleeding since I had it put in). I had most of the same ones you are all describing. I thought I was crazy, I have gained weight and my body looks totally gross, headaches, nausea, starving to death, sleep disturbance, bouts of temporary insanity, crying for no reason, bi-polar type mood swings, loss of motivation, depression, etc. etc. etc. My boyfriend and I broke up two weeks ago. Mirena did not help our already troubled relationship. Besides, who needs birth control when you can't have sex due to CONSTANT bleeding? The breakup was inevitable. My question to those who have had it and then had it removed. How long till some of this calms down? I can turn sideways and look in the mirror and I swear I look pregnant. I have always been chunky, but my abdomen didn't look like this a few months ago before Mirena. These are tough times and I feel rotten about myself. I can say that I am VERY happy that I got it out. I just can't believe the resistence I got from my OB.

I had Minera implanted about a year ago. My periods have been longer and inconsistent. I have experienced some weight gain but never associated it with Minera. However, I have started having strange sensations on my left side of my abdomen. It's like a dull, pulling pain. It's getting so bad that I have a difficult time moving after being still for a while. But most disturbing, I experienced a sharp pain during intercourse with my husband last night. It felt like a sharp, jabbing pain that moved through my uterus to my side where I've been feeling these pains. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced pains like this or similar to this? I'm started to get really worried and I'm wondering if I should have the IUD removed.

OMG, I had mirena put in in 05 after my second baby... A few months later I started having bad pain in my lower left side I went to the doc and they did an ultrasound and said there was no reason for the pain. I went on with my life and about 6 months later the pain became so severe somedays I couldn't even walk... Went to the ER they said I had endometriosis. I have had 3 surgery's since all the while still having my mirena in place. My last surgery was in March 09 they assured me that I should have no more pain and urged me to keep my Mirena in place because the hormones will help. I am making an appt. to have this thing removed ASAP! I never had these problems before, pain..., mood swings... a significant weight gain.... No periods and bad periods, and the list goes on. I don't think its the endometriosis I really believe its this foreign body inside me and I have had enough. Girls, do your research before deciding on a birth control. I have read so many bad things about mirena.
