WOW I thought I was going insane..I had the same effects..DID yours stop after not taking the medicine?

I had the same thing happen thought I was losing it..I am never sick..Got a sinus infection now for almost 6 weeks...I am a fit active guy that has becoe like a zombie did the side effects stop after you quit the meds? Thanks

Happily side effects have subsided. My last dose was Wednesday the 11th. Half life of Avelox is about 12-14 hours. 3 x this period and it should be out of your system. You should be noticing sign of improvement after 48 hours of last dose.

I am happy to read that I am not the only one with strange vivid dreams.
Mine were very scary. I actually had the dreams three different nights
all after taking Avelox. I was dreaming of lions and they were real
vivid. I was so scared, I ran and ran. Two nights it was lions one night tigers.
I thought I WAS CRAZY.
I'AM 53. Some scarry stuff that Avelox.

I was in emergency room today for rash and tongue swelling,snapping of joints. They gave me tylenol and said to stop taking it! I still have tremors ,headache and tingling. Do you feel any better? I only took one dose on Friday night and feel no relief.

5 days after my last dose of Avelox and am feeling close to 100% better. Trying to clean my system out of all chemicals. My doctor perscribed me Xanax for the anxiety and advised to take Benadryl at night to help sleep. I've had too many medicines in my body for 3-4 weeks now. Still a bit dizzy and lightheaded, but much better than last week.

I had the same side effects as you on Avelox, except I thought I was somaticizing it so I rode all the side effects out and finished on 3/3, and now I'm still no better going in to see my PCP again tomorrow. I see my ENT on Monday for this, then a poss. biopsy by an oral surgeon on Tues for a growth on my gums. Today my dentist read me the riot act about getting this cleared up, she doesn't want anything being done to my mouth with a poss. infection still looming. I still feel really ill, this all started when I contracted a serious norovirus on 2/1 landing me in the hospital, right after that is when I started feeling dizzy from my sinuses, nothing like getting beaten while your already down. I haven't been well since, and battle fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue as well as a myriad of other associated stuff, all exasperated by this.

I took my second Avelox last night and about an hour and a half later, I couldn't stop trembling. My mouth dried up completely. I think my salivary glands shut down. I had difficulty swallowing, even water. I was awake most of the night taking sips of water very slowly because I felt like I was almost choking from the dryness. The first day I took it (2 days ago) I was driving on a bridge and suffered a major panic attack. My heart was pounding very fast. I've had a rapid heartbeat for and palpitations off and on for these last 2 days. I've had high anxiety and weird thoughts, that are outside of normal for me. I'm hoping this wears off. It's been 21 hours and I still have all the symptoms but to a lesser degree than last night. I can't believe they keep this drug on the market. It's not fit for human consumption. I was given it for sinusitis.

I was told the same thing after taking JUST ONE pill of Avelox in early February. I was not able to sleep or eat for a month. I was not able to work (my mental acuity was "off"). I lost 15 lbs and wound up in the ER with extreme insomnia/anxiety a month later, after repeatedly asking my doctors if the Avelox caused this and not getting a straight answer (why would they say "yes" when they prescribed it?).

A psychiatrist confirmed Avelox did it. He has seen other patients with the same problem.

Do not take Avelox unless no other meds (Ceftin and Augmentin) work. I've suggested friends & family to put it on their medication allergy lists.

My advice for recovery:

-If you are having anxiety, insomnia, crazy dreams, etc. after taking even one dose of Avelox, STOP TAKING IT, and get in to see a psychiatrist ASAP.

-They will prescribe an anti-psychotic or anti-depressant medication to help you sleep and increase the seratonin and/or dopamine levels in your brain.

-If you think you can recover without medication, you are wrong. I suffered needlessly for a month.

-Acupuncture, exercise, and yoga are great - you should do all three, but if someone leads you to believe it will "heal" you, they're wrong. Avelox is a hardcore drug that damaged your biochemistry - it requires another hardcore med to reverse the damage.

Get on a med like Seroquel, and ease yourself into taking it (take 1/4 or 1/2 tab the first night and work up as needed)...within a few days, you should feel like your old self again.
