Has anyone experienced heart palpitations from taking Zocor? I've been on it for 6 months and about a month ago started having palpitations that are becoming more frequent, like daily at this point. Went off Zocor yesterday just in case that is the problem. Has anyone else had this symptom?

Palpitations like you wouldn't believe, whole heart spasmed like a misfiring engine, my heart also used to completey stop usually just before I dropped off to sleep. I purchased my own blood pressure meter and had bad irregular heart beat as well. 6 months after stopping the medicine no irrregular heart beat low blood pressure and feeling more secure. High quality COQ10, fish oil and magnessium are direct muscle and heart food that really helped me. Zocor and any statin medicine = poison. Look at lipitor on this site and go to spacedoc dot net. Some highly respected cardiologists now state that statin medication actually causes cardio myapthy in other wise healthy patients. Best from New Zealand

Thank you oldcarpetcleaner for your response!!! Got a call from my doctor's nurse telling me that Zocor wouldn't cause that. Then I told her I went off it 3 days ago and my symptoms have improved. She said well, that it rarely caused such symptoms. I appreciate your advice and am going to start the COQ10, fish oil and magnesium. Interesting that you said your heart would stop when you went to bed, because it is usually at bedtime when the palpitations start. It was getting worse and worse on a daily basis, until I stopped the drug. Now it is getting better, shorter bouts of it and less frequent. What is the connection with bedtime I wonder???

Please go to Simvastatin (=the active substance in Zocor).
On March 3rd, 2009 I have replied to a message.
My signature is Swedish.

Maybe you can find some interesting books and www-addresses there.

Good luck!

P.S. I am not sure that I mentioned www.statineffects.com
