i just got off of the phon with my ob's office having spo9ken to her nurse about YAZ. i have been on it for a month and for the last week i have been having pain in my calf and behind my knee. i am worried about a DVT or something serious. i wonder if a doctor would do some tests to tell me if i have blood clots or not because i am worried. the pill has greatly reduced my horrible pms symptoms but i don't want to dye of a pulmonary embolism! they may take me off of the pill, don't other pills also have a risk of causing blood clots?

I suggest you insist on being tested for blood clots. This is a known, serious side effect of Yaz, Yasmin, and other birth control pills. There's a blood test called dDimer that can check for blood clots or your doctor could order a sonogram of your legs, etc. This is NOT a symptom to be ignored. My daughter died in her third month on Yasmin of blood clots in her lungs. Take action. What did the nurse in your OB/GYN's office suggest to you after you told her about the pain in your calf and behind your knee?

Definitely get it checked out, your GP can give you a referral for an ultrasound, you may be out of pocket a little, but the piece of mind is worth it. After finding out I had a suspect thrombosis in my brain, i got my leg pain checked out for DVT. There is also a blood test you can get done to see if you're predisposed to thrombosis, so that you can take precautions if necessary. Yasmin should be taken off the shelves.
