You were very smart to stop taking those drugs. Unfortunately, most drs. don't know about the side effects and don't care since drug business is a HUGE racket. There are many natural products to control cholesterol, if necessary.
$1,000 per year per person x 30 million patients worldwide = $ 30 billion gross annual revenues. Heck, for a tiny fraction of that, I'd tell you you need to lower your cholesterol to avoid a heart attack.
Good for you, I am 50 y/o too have been taking 10mg of Lipitor since October last year, since December I have had nothing but problems with my left hand and right foot "buzzing", spasms to the extent of cramping hand, muscle fatigue in my upper left arm and sore feet! I am so grateful for all the articles I have read about this medication, so many similar symptoms to mine. I kept being told I had pinched nerves in 3 vertebrae. I've never had "buzzy" and spasm type symptoms before when I recovered from a neck problem. I know my body and I make the choice... I stopped taking Lipitor about a week ago, now I just look forward to an improvement. I have been missing out on so many enjoyable activities, cycling, gardening, even just going out and having a coffee with friends. My only concern now is how long before my body repairs itself and returns to some normality. Can anyone help with case histories? Thankyou
I am on my 6th statin drug and have gotten the same symptoms as you. For the past 5 years doctors have told me that statins didn't cause any of my problems. Finally after much arguing it was admitted that it could be the statins. I have been through sever anxiety, pain in the chest, panic attacks , heart palpitations that were unbearable and more. When I would take a break from the statins everything would go away. Statins have stopped me from living my life. I cannot go to yoga, I cannot go to the gym, I cannot lift weights---my life without them allows me to do all the heart healthy things we need to do--ironic isn't it. I wish you much luck.
Jeffracer, can you give an update? Have your tremors gone away. I'm 42 and I've been on Lipitor for about 2 years but a few months ago I started getting tremors and a shaky feeling, which seems to get worse with strenuous activity. I went to a neurologist and had a battery of tests, which all came out fine. The Dr. said the symptoms do not fit any known disease. My regular Dr. suggested yesterday that I try stopping the Lipitor for 6 weeks and see what happens. I wasn't optimistic until I just read some of these postings.
