My second trip to this forum. A couple years ago, I developed plantar's fasciitis in both heels and had to give up basketball (at 54), and it took about nine months to recover from that. I had been on Lipitor 10 mg, and, while I can't say there was a cause-effect relationship, I had no problems of this kind before then. Well, I continued on the Lipitor, and this past fall got horrible impingement pain in one shoulder that evolved to a frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis). Tonight I did a quick google search on this and it led me back to this site. Again, I cannot PROVE anything, but I've NEVER had any trouble with joints and just have to wonder. I read on one link that Frozen Shoulder is on the rise, and wonder if Statin use is possibly behind it. I'm at the point that I may go off these drugs and go hard core Atkins diet again, the only thing that got the excess 30 pounds I'm carrying off, and also gave me "textbook" numbers on my lipid profile. I'm starting to think this drug is possibly the problem. It's not worth it to take a debilitating and crippling substance just to be able to eat whatever I want.

I would suggest that you stop taking this dangerous drug before you have more side effects. This poison can cause MANY problems. There are many natural products and alternatives to control cholesterol, if necessary. . . . .your body/mind need cholesterol to function.

" Debilitating and crippling" are words I hear often describing the side effects from statins. By the way, did you notice what you said when you stated that "its not worth it to take this substance ... just to be able to eat whatever you want." This is one of the dangers of statins. Some people use it as a license to eat whatever they want. In other words, people will make less healthy choices under the belief that the statin pill is protecting them.

Bobby, there's no question that is the effect for many people - self included. When I first started taking Lipitor, I had gained only about 15 pounds, but the Doc said 230 was too high, and let's try this wonder drug. Sure enough, I came down to 170 in a couple months, liver was OK, so he pronounced a "cure."
So I went back to eating too many carbs, and even a little sugar now and then, and, two years later, gained 30 lbs. Numbers were still around 180, but felt worse and then all these problems.
I forgot to mention, since I've been on this drug, sores don't heal, or take many months. I used to be a very fast healer, then I read that one of the functions of cholesterol is promote scab production and healing - so there you go.
I am weaning myself off - is there a problem going off cold turkey? Anyone know? I figure I'd cut dose in half for a week, then halve it again, then quit.

You didn't ask me, but, I stopped this poison "cold turkey" .. . . the sooner the better.
