I have been on Diovan HCT 160 for several years. The other day I woke up with joint pain in my hands. The next day it was in both ankles and arches of my feet, also both elbows and my right knee felt swollen and painful. I am a physical therapist and am In tune with my body. I know this is atypical joint pain and not from physical activity. I was afraid of rheumatoid arthritis so I am shocked and a bit relieved to read others with same effects. I am going to my MD for full blood work and a new BP med for sure. I will post any new info if it might help others.......

I, too, have been on Diovan HCT 80mg/12.5mg for about five years. I woke up one day with hip pain on the right side radiating down toward my knee. The next day I had tenderness at my right ankle. A day or two later both my wrists were tender. Then one morning my left knee was sore and felt unstable. That lasted for a month and a half. I get tenderness in my tendons from my shoulders down and also from my ankles up. This is not from injury. It sounds a lot like what you experienced. My Doctor retired so I was without a physician. I did get one finally and she recently gave my just Diovan 160mg. For two days I stopped taking anything and felt better. Today i started the Diovan 160 and have left knee pain and tendon tenderness again. My doctor thought it was the HCT part of the medication causing my symptoms, but I'm not certain. I will try it her way for a while and see what happens. What did your doctor recommend.
