It has been almost two years since I took one tablet of 500 mg levaquin for a throat infection. I immediately felt lightheaded, then came the hot prickly skin, rapid heartbeat, insomnia and just a feeling of doom. I did not take another pill. Right after this my ankles started to hurt and podiatrist said had a torn posterier tibial tendon. To this day, I cannot walk without a limp, and can only wear athletic shoes with orthotics. If I stand for or walk for a small period of time I am in a lot of pain and have to sit. I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis from the inflammatory markers in blood tests and rf factor, even though mri of my hands and wrists are normal. My right shoulder and arm hurt, my wrists and fingers hurt, my knees, neck. It is better, but I will never be the same as I was - no more running, walking my dog, going camping with my daughters girl scout troop - can't go hiking. I am 50 and I feel like I am 90. Would like to sue someone.

I hear you. I am 3 yrs this past Feb...I took it for 6 days...haven't torn a tendon, but have nuero pain and documented nerve damage in R achilles tendon and pain in left...all test come back neg...will have a new mri soon..but am doubtful anything new will show up....have widespread tendonitis practically everywhere I have a joint and tendon! I am better than some days, worse on others..I still go camping...just in a travel trailer instead of a tent and it's still frickin hard!! No hiking, but dammnit I am still going! I would love to sue whoever is responsible for pushing this poison onto the public and making money off my pain and suffering, but unless you rupture a tendon, there isn't much recourse....so I keep on keepin on...sometimes the pity party gets going but not too often thankfully..find your joy in whatever way you can...stay strong and don't let it win..I volunteer with Meals on Wheels a couple times a month and that puts alot of things in perspective for me. Take care and know that you are not alone. We are here for you! Liz

I hear you both! I'm right here with you too. A little over 2 years out, did the damage with a few days worth of Levaquin. I did have the tendon rupture (distal bicep tendon) and a laundry list of other ADR's. I am 49 going on 99. That is fairly accurate too. I was extremely active and now I feel like I was hit by a truck every single day. I dream about going skiing or many of the other activities I loved so much. I try not to dwell in the pity but it is difficult given such a life change. Quite simply.... it sucks. All so Big Pharma could make a buck. I wish they had just asked for a donation.

amen brother! I would have gleefully thrown the cash at them to have avoided this crap! I am going to be 44 and the only reason I haven't gained more weight than I have is strictly due to genetics...just a naturally thin person but I feel the extra 15 lbs since I can't exercise anymore..just light stretching and walking and every day job and taht kicks my butt!..I used to have quite the bod for being over 40!! Heavy sigh...It also seems for me that every injury I have ever had in this life is now a hot spot for me...I have pain in those areas as well when had been fine for years! Some of my ADR's are not too bad, just annoying and THERE...tinitus, occasional intestinal woe...all my peeps say I am fiber obsessed and they are right! I have to take pain pills everyday and that DOES suck...man I miss margaritas!!
