I have stopped taking Lipitor after 3 yrs. I was told I had a mini-stroke because of my slurred speech 6 mo. ago. Since then I have had a battery of tests and my neurologist told me "I don't think you had a stroke." I saw the words "Motor Neuron Disease" (I looked it on the web because I never heard of it before) on the script for my EMG. I blame it all on Lipitor and the wasting of the nerves and the muscles. I sound as if I am drunk. No one can understand me . I am taking speech therapy but it doesn't seem to help.

Good that you stopped taking this poison . . . .it can cause MANY side effects. I am a victim of Lipitor too. Unfortunately, it takes time to rid this dangerous drug from your body/mind.

Good luck.

14 months since ceasing statins, I sometimes completely mentally stall when talking to someone, for a few moments I can neither think or speak. These incidents are becoming further apart for me. I previously suffered from slurry speech, this seems to have stopped now. I am more than satisfied my problems are from the statins as all my other symptoms pain fatigue pins needles sweats etc are now on a similar level to my mental deffeciencies.
My fatigue and pain certainly improved when I started taking high quality COQ10 and my mental probs including severe agitation improved signifcantly
when I started taking about 9000 mgs a day high quality liquid Carlsons fish
oil. I now take 5000 mgs per day. I hope this may be of some support to you.
Best to you from New Zealand. PS I can't blame the statins for my spelling, that's from being naughty at school 100 yrs ago.

Cholesterol is vital to the human brain. I believe it should be a federal crime to prescribe, sell, or dispense a statin drug.

Right now I respect my garbage man more than a physician who prescibes this junk. Its all a big racket.

I was taking 20mg of Lipitor a day for 8 months. I have ended up with weakness, and slurred speech. My doctor told me I did not have a stroke and the words "motor neuron disease" came to a neurologists mouth. I did not know what that was but is is common for ALS. I have been waiting for my appointment at Mass General to determine whether I have ALS or not. It is awful knowing I could have this disease. I will know next week if I have it or not and then I WILL BLAME LIPITOR for everything if it turns out I do not have it

Sandwich, as I told you when you were asking a question . . . .this dangerous drug can cause MANY side effects. So many people spent a lot of $ and time, to find out that their problems stemmed from this poison. Most drs. don't know or care about the side effects since the drug business is a HUGE racket. I suggest you read more posts and you will find out.

My daughter is in the hospital with symptoms of a stroke but the catscan does not show any signs of a stroke. She has slurred speach and weekness on her right side and the doctors have not found a cause for her illness yet. What do you think?
