Hi ! I'm French and bipolar 2 rapid cylcing (every 2/3 months for about 3 weeks each taking anafrani)l. I'm 50 years old and I had lithium for many years. Since July I have lamictal. It's very recent in France and my doctor doesn't know if my problem to sleep I get since I have lamictal will go away or not and if lamictal is responsible. I describe the problem : I have difficulty to get asleep, I wake up during the night and I wake up very early in the morning even if i go to bed late. So I'm obliged to go to bed before 10 pm. It's very hard but since I take lamictal I had no down since September (6 months it's wonderful for me) I only had some variations during the day at the beginning but it seems to be better. I feel really better than with lithium. But there is this problem of sleeping. In France nobody could answer to me and my doctor told me to go on internet with USA of Canada where you use for long time lamictal. Do you know something about that and do you know if it can be better after a few month more ? Could you please answer me here or on my email : ****** Thanks a lot in advance and sorry for my bad English. I hope you will understand me. Kind regards N.

I too have issues with sleeping. I have tried sleep aids with little help. I recently started taking Clonazepam .5mg to stay asleep once I get there. It really helps

Thank you. I forgot to say that to help for sleeping I take 2 mepronizine and 1 stilnox every night. I'll speak with my doctor.

I fought the doctors about my sleeping way too much with another pill. My son went and was furious with them after my complaining for over a year. That's when they changed me over to Lamictal. This is the first time in my life I have not been depressed. I am also bi-polar. I am very happy! I do however go to bed about 10 pm and then I wake up about 2:30 am. I watch tv for about an hour because I wouldn't feel like being productive. I go back to bed and wake about 4:30 am and stay up. Right now I just retired, and started going to school from 8:00 am until 1:00 pm. Believe me, I go to bed and take a 2 hour nap when I come home at 1:00 pm. I haven't complained because it's so much better than being sleepy all the time! It does sound like we are having the same problem. I'm happy! Debbie
