Hi there. I am so glad I found this website too. My mirena was fitted in Dec 2005. Since then I have been on anti-depressants twice. I have terrible mood swings, am constantly ratty with my two young sons and my husband, I feel like I am constantly stressed out and definitely feel like I can't relax. I am always shattered. I feel my heart "tremmoring" quite a lot. My hips and top half of my legs ache most days. I feel bloated quite a lot too, like the feeling before a period, or even slight labor pains. I have a constant vaginal discharge, and have slight bleeding after intercourse. I had convinced myself I had cancer from some of these symptoms, but have just had smear test results and all is fine. So it must all be down to the mirena. The only thing is though I am SOOOOOO scared of having it removed, frightened of the pain and of the bleeding immediately after! I would like to hear from people who have had it removed, did it hurt and was the blood loss severe?

Hello there,
I just had mine removed this past Friday. It was quick and easy, they insertied the scope (like with a PAP) and then I felt a pinch inside and that was it. I started my period on Sunday and it was light and I think I am done today. I have read others that had a horrible time with getting it removed, but mine was really easy. Good luck!!

I had mine out a month ago and it was so easy didn't hurt at all. She said I might have some spotting and I didn't even have that.

Hi Sarah1975,

I have already made 2 postings today thus far. However, I wanted to make one directly to you. I had my Mirena removed today, as I experienced the exact symptoms you had. The removal process was not painful at all. It only took a minute or so, and I felt a slight "tug" as the Doctor removed it, but other than that, it was not painful at all compared to having it inserted.
My symptoms were extremely severe, and I now know they were all related to the Mirena, as I already feel "normal" again just 12 hours upon having it removed! The Doctor tried convincing me the Mirena wasn't to blame for the numerous symptoms I displayed. But, I knew otherwise, and dso do you. We all know our bodies better than anyone, and just because some people don't experience problems, doesn't mean that others don't. I highly recommend having it removed! I assure you that you won't regret it!

My was removed in about 40 seconds. Just like a smear test but easier. He just pulled the strings and hardly felt a thing. I am so relieved to have it out. You so should get it out as your story is identical to mine with aches and pains/ moods/depression/bloating etc. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and put on anti depressants. Thought I was going mad. Got it out today so goodbye aches pains/moods and all that other crap I have put up with for 2 years.
