A few years back I severely injured my back. As part of my treatment my doctor gave me prednisone. My joints, especially my knees hurt beyond belief. I even had go to my parents house because I couldn't move, it hurt too much. I called my doctor and you know what he told me?!?! it was all in my head.He accused me of trying to get pain pills from him. The joint pain got so bad that I had to be hospitalized. You know what they told me at the hospital. I was having a allergic reaction to prednisone. No S***t!??! anyway, since that time I have not taken prednisone. My concern now is that my doctor wants me to get a cortisone injection. . . I am scared I would get the same reaction. from the research I have done so far, it looks like it is from the same family. Does anybody know? Thanks B.

Chances are you will have the same reaction. I had an allergic reaction and then got a shot for a rotor problem a couple years later. It made every bone in my body hurt as usual but this time was much worse and longer. Sorry I would try something else. Can I ask what its for?

Hi Dear,

I just started today taking 4 pills of Prednisone, I have to take another 4 for the next 2 days, then I take 3 for three days,then I will take 2 for 2 more days.

I have a rush from something I ate, and now I am scared to continue with this drug.

About Cortisone shuts? they work "temporarily" they don't fix the problem they calm your pain for a little while. I had so many on my shoulders.

Good luck and thanks for sharing your story.

Martha =)

I wanted to add, yes, I dropped the doctor. I had a talk with him and told him about the reaction and how I ended up in the hospital and he said that he was sorry but he had never heard of this reaction. I don't care if he never heard of it. . . you need your doctor to believe and listen to you.

Hello Everyone
Stay away from any form of prednisone, cortisone, hydracortisone or any other form of that ends with sone, It will cause you grave harm despite what the doctors tell you. I was hospitalized with food allergies and the prednisone they gave me, made me gain 60 pounds in just a couple of weeks. I found an allergist who didn't believe in using it and placed me on Claratin and Zantac. Yes Zantac will work wonders for allergies without the side effects. When my dog developed skin allergies, what the vet did was not working plus it was extrmely costly, I went to the trusty internet and found that dogs can take the same thing. Not only id my dog healthy now his coat is clear and glossy and no sheadding. and he is happy. Go to the internet and check all options then run to another doctor but stay away from and for of cortizone.
