I am curious about weight gain with this drug. I started taking it in Jan. of 08 and I felt like my metabolism just stopped....my stomach stopped growling but I did still feel slight hunger. I don't know if it's because I had just turned 30 and my metabolism was actually slowing down from age or if the Lexapro did it. I always used to jog and the weight would come off pretty well. But when I was on Lexapro I felt like I could jog and jog and jog and eat right and nothing would happen. Does anyone else have this problem?

Yes, I have taken Lexapro since 2004 and I gained 10 pound a year. The doctor said it was my menapause. So after I gained 40 pounds, I said I was going to try and diet... But when I tried to eat right and work out practically starve myself I still might only loose one pound. So I weaned myself off of Lexapro and after a month I started taking St. John's Wort. I have begun to loose some weight but not a lot yet. I am struggling with my moods. I have more times I feel angry for no reason but I am determined to try and get totally away from Lexapro and get through this. I know it will get better.

I was on Lexapro for almost 2 years, the doctor just took me off because I gained close to 30 pounds. I worked out, ate healthy and nothing. He put me on Wellbutrin two weeks ago but not sure about it quite yet. Although I have already lost 5lbs. Just have to be careful about what you eat and keep exercising. I am sorry I feel you pain!
