Hi,
My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant thru artificial inseminations since we got married, and last year I was diagnosed with stage 3 endometriosis. After learning that endometriosis is supposed to cause you great pains, I was really proud of myself because I do remember having awful pains, but I just thought I was and "unlucky" woman with bad cramps! My husband had no idea anything was wrong because I would never complain about any pain. The way I understood, the treatment options vary according to how advanced the endometriosis is, so you should seek a specialist (if you haven't already) to see what he recommends for your case. I was having a laparoscopy surgery just a few weeks after being diagnosed (this is when a doctor uses a scope to "burn off" the damaged tissues. Although the surgery was mostly successful, my doctor was not able to reach all the spots that had endometriomas because they were all over my bladder, etc. so she put me on Lupron shots, which stop your period from coming and help to "dry out" whatever endometriosis is left. Each lupron shot lasts 3 months. I've taken 2 shots, so I've been in treatment for the last 6 months. The side effects of Lupron are horrible! I'm sure you can read about it online... The only good thing is not getting your period for a while... Other than that, I've had non-stop hot flashes, bloating, gas and I've gained more than 10 pounds!!! I can't wait till this stuff gets out of my system!!! If I could go back in time, I would have never agreed to take it, and would have searched for other treatment options. Do your research, girl and good luck to you!

Thanks for your response. Trust me I have been reading non stop and I have gathered tons of information on Lupron and I realize its not the best option for me at this time. My bones are already not in perfect shape, so I wont want to turn into an old woman at 33. I will try birth control pill, just to stop my periods or shall I say may the time its in shorter. I November last year I had my period for 23 days straight, then in December it was like 19 days straight. My period this month and in march were like 14 days long, so hopefully the pill can reduce the days its on. I'm not in pain now from the endometriosis, so I believe if it isnt broke dont fix it. I'm not in pain now, why take lupron and suffer. Good luck to you too!

It is a hard decision. I am 31, I had a large cyst removed by laparoscopic surgery and was diagnosed with severe endometriosis . My doctor said if want to have kids in the future I need to go on a six month treatment of depot lupron. My experience with the shot was not as bad as the other ladies. I did have hot flashes at the start and they got worse toward the end, I did not gain any weight but I do yoga 3-4 times a week and walk on a regular basis, I did not change my eating habits but just stayed active. I had severe pain before the shot and for 6 months I felt normal and it was great to not have my period. The hot flashes were tolerable because I had no pain. It did also effect my sex drive...I have NONE! I have a very understanding boyfriend that has read and gone through this process with me. I had my last shot Feb. 24 and still have not had my period and the hot flashes are worse the when I was on the shot. I would love to know when they may stop and when I will get my period.
