I am 37 and have suffered with heavy, painful periods since I was 12. I have two wonderful children and my husband has had a vasectomy - that was our choice for permanent contraception and it's been great!!! However, recently after having to have a D&C for interuterine cysts I decided enough is enough. My gyn-ey suggested the Mirena and although I'd heard about it over the years didn't feel totally convinced that it was the right thing to do. I started searching for side effects and found this site ..... thank you so much!!! My instincts were screaming at me not to go ahead and now I know why!!! What I put up with for 3-4 days each month is nothing compared to what you wonderful ladies have been putting up with, with the Mirena!!! I've been taking Cyklokapron for years (it reduces the bleeding by about 50%), so I'm going to carry on with that treatment for now and thank my angels for saving me from a possible big mistake!!! For those woman it works for, awesome, but I know I'd be in the 1% that has bad side effects!
