My doctor just put me on Yaz a couple of weeks ago to get rid of my ovarian cysts as well. She was very informative and shared a lot of information that helped me out a bunch. First of all, all women have ovarian cysts. They are only a concern if they get above 2cm. That means anything under two cm is normal. Also, the female body gets cysts because of a hormone imbalance. Your doctor and mine put us on Yaz to correct that imbalance and hopefully solve our abnormal ovarian cyst problems. I know that I am already feeling way better than I did. I hope this info helps you.
That happened to me 3 years ago. I used to have very heavy cramps and feel terrible during my period. After all the tests, my doctor told me that I have an ovarian cystic syndrome which caused by the higher level of testosterone. I started the Yasmin right after the diagnosis and it really worked for me. I have neither had side effects with this pill, nor experienced heavy cramps and other pre-menstural complains. I took Yasmin for 6 months, then I quitted because I was feeling great. (Yasmin was great but I didn't want to use any drug) After quitting I didn't use any birth control pill almost 1,5 years beacuse I had no complain during my periods. But after 1,5 years all the sypmtoms came back, I had terrible cramps, (once I had to go to the ER because of the pain) and the tests showed it was ovarian cystic syndrome again. The doctor gave me another birth control pill which I can't remember its name, but I have experienced terrible side effects, then I switched that to Yasmin. I have taken Yasmin since December 2007, and it really works for me. Because everybody's hormone level is different, you cannot know how your body respond to the new drug. Best thing to do is talking to your doctor if you have experiencing bad side effects, and finding together which pill works for you.
I also was given Yasmin by my doctor. I, too, suffered with ovarian cysts. I have not had any problems since I began taking Yasmin about 3 months ago. No more excrutiating cramps from the cysts and the only negative side effects are just wanting to eat more than normal and breast tenderness
I have had ovarian cysts now for about 5 years. I have been through tons of them rupturing, probably about 10 different birth controll pills, and many of hospital visits. In fact to do the cysts my one ovarie is permanently enlarged and I also tend to get more than one cyst on my ovaries at a time. However to answer your question about yaz, each person is different and one thing may work for someone and not someone else. In my case no Yaz it did not help, and it was very expensive. Along with Yaz, Ortho tri cyclen lo, Ortho tri cyclen, and a few others I was on when I first got them I can not remember the name. However, Lo Ovaral did help control them a little. It was the only pill that gave me some type of reliefe and slowed them down. However, from what Planned Parenthood said, I think it is discontinued because they switched my pill and of course ortho cyclen doesnt help. Well, any I hope I can help.
ALSO: Most people who have ovarian cysts repeatedly rupture needs to becareful the fluids from them can get in your felopean tube and cause an infection in it, so be sure to keep an eye out and see if you need antibiotics. This happened to me, and a hospital didn't give me the antibiotics and I colapsed in my kitchen and was rushed back 2 days later.
