While this was not my experience, there are many people who have had exactly the same thing happen. Some have taken it multiple times with no negative effect and then the next time does them in. Others, like myself, react to the very first pill. Once you have experienced a reaction, you will be very susceptible to very small amounts, even those passed on through a food source. The information is out there but you will have to search for it. This site deletes url's in my postings. Good luck and be careful.
tamkatt, I could have written your post. Took 2 years ago with no problems. Then this time, I had all your symptoms after the 2nd dose and immediately took myself off of it. That was a week ago and the symptoms are still not gone. I am healthy, very active 50 year old female. Well, I'm not active now - I was told not to lift, reach, bend until my symptoms are gone.
I hope we have not done irreparable damage. I'm so very mad and scared.
thanks for your follow up. Saw my PCP Weds, told him about the problems I was having with the Levaquin, didn't seem too concerned but did write orders for P.T. and M.R.I or CAT scan to see if anything shows up so maybe he won't just blow me off about this. Only good thing is I have just filed for my social security disability so if anything is permanent that will just help.
Please let us know the results of your tests. Thanks.
I was on IV Therapy for 1 1/2 months with Levaquin after going off the IV's I went to 3 weeks of 500 mg Levaquin. No side effects. This was back in August of last year. In February of this year, I found that my infection had returned so I called my Infection Specialist and he put me back on Levaquin for the last week of February and all of March up to about mid April. During this time my ankles, knees, shoulders, arms, wrists and evey muscle in my body felt like I had worked out like a crazy person. Now I was helping a friend move, cleaned out a few closets and figured the pain was from muscles that I just don't use. When I saw the doc on April 21st of this year, I asked about side effects and the pain I have experienced since taking the medication. He told me that Levaquin will effect the achilles tendon. He asked if it was better since stopping the meds. I told him it was slightly better but still hurt. His answer to me was "Sorry I poisoned you with Leviquin, it should get better in the other joints soon." It's been 9 days and it is not getting better....It seems to be getting worse.
Yes. I took for 1 week in January with no problem. This time I took it for 14 days for bronchitis, sinusitis, etc., and have all-over muscle and joint pain. I began waking up in pain every day. It's diminished since last dose a week ago but pains similar to flu bodyaches persist, even in my hands and fingers. I'm hoping it will subside when the meds are out of my system
