I totally agree with your comments. I have been taking 40mg omeprazole for probably over 5 years now. I too have been to the doctors with heart palpatations and tingling in my fingers, nobody suggested there may be a connection. Suffered from bowel troubles and havent felt like a well person for a good while now. My doctor has never suggested exploring why I suffer from such bad acid reflux I was just put directly on the medication. I have asked if its safe to be on long term and told yes. I have decided to give it a break and see if I notice a difference in my health. I know im going to suffer with the acid but I am prepared to suffer to see if it does make a difference. I will let you know how I get on!
Oddly, I'm seeming to have the opposite experience. Omeprazole 20 mg was working great for me for two years, no acid reflux, no weird side effects. Then I ran out for a week or so and started taking Protonix 40 mg that my mother had, and I've been having upset stomach, sore throat and sharp stomach pains since. I'm stopping the Protonix and taking nothing at all until I can get some more Omeprazole, and just hoping I didn't do any permanent damage by switching back and forth between the two.
