Hi everyone, I have just read all thirty pages of posts to try to find some answers to my crazy reaction to prednisone. My thoughts are with you all since I have had an usually severe reaction to prednisone. I was on prednisone for 1 week in October 2008 at 60 mg/day for a sinus surgery. I am still having the following side effects at full force: Axiety to the point I can't socialize mood swings hot/sweating even in freezing weather whole body shakes severe migraines tooth sensitivity muscle pains extreme thirst (I drink almost 2 gallons/day) hungry all the time moon face water retention around waist acne hair loss rapid heart rate dizziness nightmares night sweats high blood pressure high hear rate I'm not exaggerating, my parent's can contend to that. I do have a history of having sever reactions to medication and I've had all the gland and blood tests which all check out. I never had a single one of these before the prednisone - I was a healthy 22 year old. I was wondering if any could tell me when this hell will end - my job and well-being depends on it!

Hi,

Did you taper off or just stop? What's your diet like?

There are things to help, send me a private e-mail if you would like with the above info. ds3175@comcast.net. I was on 100mg for 5 years so I may have a couple of suggestions.

Best of luck!!

You are not having a reaction to prednisone - these are simply the side effects of the drug and everybody experiences them.. maybe not as many as you, but most of them. If you are having a 'reaction' then everybody is lol. I am surprised that you did not know about these side effects prior to taking this drug.

You will feel better eventually but it may take some time. Get off this drug as soon as possible and do not trust your doctor. They are lying cheating thieves. They will take everything you have ever had if you let them. Im serious DO NOT TRUST ANY DOCTOR ANYWHERE. If you are smart you will heed my warning. Unless it is life threatening do not let these bastards at you. I will never again make the mistake of trusting a doctor. By the way I have been off prednisone for four years and have just begun to feel normal again. I hope and pray that it does not take this long for you to recover.

By the way you were probably a very happy energetic person with a zeal for life. These types of people are the ones it effects the worst because we have farther to fall. Many people who walk this planet are already in misery and do not notice the side effects as extreme. You my friend will eventually get better but it may take time. Try to eliminate any anxiety in your life and just try to relax. This drug shuts down the most important gland in the body. The doctors know this and dont give a shit. Its about time that patients start fighting back. In salem they burned the witches. We need to do the same with most of the doctors in the world. These doctors get us in our most vulnerable moments when we are not watching. We need to do the same to them. Also the adrenal glands control mood so you will have the mood swings for a while until your mood stabilizing glands rebound. For me it took four years. I will not allow anyone in my family to take any prescriptions until thoroughly researched and no new vaccines.

I have post traumatic stress relating to adrenaline and hospitals. When I got cancer, they'd put me on prednisone for 5 days then off with no tapering. The day I no longer got it, I remember flopping around on the floor saying I wanted to die for several hours. Mental rape. But my husband figured out that if he gave me benadryl at the point when I was expecting my next dose, then more benadryl the next day or two, I did fine. As my health improved (I had to have the prednisone six times over a period of 18 weeks), I got insomnia with the prednisone and the benadryl wasn't enough, but when we added unisom, which uses a different formula, itwas able to put me to sleep and help in getting me past it.

Hello, been going through the same things you are. Has taken months to finally nail it down to hormone problems (low testosteron, low progesterone, high cortisol). Sounds like you may have a form of cushings, high cortisol resulting over prolonged time can eventually lead to adrenal fatigue (or addisons) which is life theatening. I know what you mean about having witnesses to confirm your symptoms, all the doctors just wanted to tell me I hade Chronic fatigue, Depression, and Fibromyalgia. I have met with great resistance trying to get my life back. I have given up going back to school, my second job, activites with family/friends, my childen's activities, and my dogs - All i have left is my full-time job, that I am 1 call-off away from being fired due to excessive absences for feeling so poorly. These doctors just don't want to take the time to step back and look at the whole picture! Get your hormones checked and see an Endocrinologists.`
