I just got mine out about a 1/2 hour ago. It wasn't that bad, but the doctor who inserted it cut the strings very short and it made for a bit of a difficult removal - but all in all less painful than the insertion. The pap smear I had hurt more. She tried to talk me into keeping it. She said that the hormones are not systemic and therefore could not cause all of the symptoms I had - just like all the ones that a majority of the women here have. She thinks it is all in my head. Nice. All I can say is that I will not be going back to this office anymore. I just don't see it. How could the hormones NOT affect the rest of your body? Can someone explain this to me? She said that the hormones stay local to the uterus and makes it so that the endometrial lining does not form. That they do not affect anything else. I guess that being a massage therapist, I know that everything in the body is connected. If something is out of whack, it affects the body in many other ways that you would not traditionally expect. Everything is connected. Anyway - I feel just fine. I don't feel "full" in my pelvis. I feel a bit dizzy, but I think that is from all of the anxiety I had over a painful removal. I am looking forward to having my body hormone-free and back to it's natural state. Hopefully some fo these 20 pounds I gained in the past 18 months will shed off. Cripes...

Hi there, glad you got it out!!! I'm getting mine out as soon as I can get my husband fixed!!! I have no other way of birth control. You can read my posts from my experience of the Mirena.
I called my Dr last week and she told me the same thing about the Mirena not causing any problems and to NOT read anything on the internet!! Anyhow, the "MIRENA" don't have anything but my theory is the mirena itself is stopping our periods which is natural and it's stopping our regualar hormornes working correctly, therefore, like you said our bodies are out of whack because they don't know how to work correctly with it being stopped!! with a foreign object inside of us. it's all wrong and i wish I searched before I got mine because now I feel i'm stuck til I can get some kind of birth control. I think we all are different because we are all different.
thanks for your post!!!! keep me updated on your results
