The FDA doesn't recommend using depo provera for longer than two years, so I applaud you trying to find a different birth control solution :) I think that compared against the population of women using IUCs, the symptoms discussed here are experienced by a very small percentage. It's much more common to have negative side effects from going off hormonal birth control, as many women switching to IUDs are coming off other methods. (The hormones in the mirena do not prevent ovulation, and they also don't have positive side effects like regulating your cycle, helping with acne, minimizing cramping, or preventing ovarian cysts). Lots and lots of women have minimal side effects with the mirena. I'm a big fan of mine, and I think your chances are good that yours will work out fine too :)
