The first month I was using it I was bleeding pretty much the whole time and it was pretty horrible, and I went to see a doctor, but they said sometimes it takes a while for the body to get used to it, so he said if it doesn't get better after I start the second ring then I should probably stop it..so I waited and once I put the second one in, things turned normal and it was working great since then..at least I thought so for almost 2 years. I stopped using it 4 weeks ago, and I don't think I will use it again. I was having some bad symptoms, but didn't understand they were probably caused by Nuvaring...lately I started reading more about it and now I understand what was causing my weird symptoms. For 2 years I was thinking it's working great, and it was a great protection against pregnancy, and I was even recommending it to people, but after I realized that the nuvaring probably was causing my symptoms such as weight gain, sadness, tiredness, and more, I think of it totally differently. Although, everyone is different, and it does take a while for the body to get used to, so for some people it works great and is a great birth control, but I realized finally that it's not something for me right now. It's important to listen to your body, and if something seems weird check with your doctor, but also remember it can take a while to get used to, though right now I'm in a place where I'm so relieved I took it out and I'm having a hard time recommending any kind of birth control pills right now..If I had known about all these side effects earlier I probably would have stopped it earlier. I guess the whole experience just freaked me out... Are you thinking of trying it longer or do you want to go off it?
By the way, I just read your posting again and noticed you had said you were never using it again. Feel free to write me anytime, and please let me know how it goes. Thanks and good luck! :)
I was on OrtoTriCyclenLo for years, and had no problems. In July, my mother-in-law switched me to Loestrin because I told her my periods were coming later with the ortho. I started having migraines shortly after, but didn't associate them to the pills. Other negative side effects were happening with that Loestrin, so I asked her to switch me again. About 3 months ago I started the Nuvaring. My migraines got SO much worse! I would have one at least three times a week, and they were just awful. I am having a real hard time with word placement, etc. I went to a doctor in town, and that fool told me that I may have an aneurysm. I called my mother-in-law. She told me that I should probably take the Nuvaring out. I was on my first week after my period (Thursday), and I ran right in the bathroom and took that sucker out. I had a little migraine Friday, and none since. But, I started bleeding heavily yesterday (Sunday). Did you ever find anything out from your doctor? My husband and I want to try to get pregnant soon also, and I'm scared Nuvaring has messed that up.
