I am 51 and very athletic and in admiral shape. 3 months ago, I began on Lipitor for cholesterol control. I just tore a calf muscle. Coincidence? I'm going off Lipitor until I know for sure. At the time of the muscle tear, myself and my muscles were warmed up. I didn't do anything harsh to provoke a tear. That's what scares me. It just went rip.

I suggest that you stop taking this dangerous drug permanently . . . that can cause MANY side effects. Drs. and drug co's have a HUGE racket for the anti-cholesterol drugs. Your mind/body needs cholesterol to function. Also, there are many natural products and alternatives to control cholesterol, if necessary . . . .instead of POISON.

While I can't say if the lipitor was directly responsible for your torn calf muscle, I can share with you that statins lower LDL cholesterol, and that one of the jobs LDL does is repair muscle cells. Cholesterol is vital to maintaining healthy cells.

Look at a cross section of Corregated cardboard. See the little ribs that give the cardboard its strength between the two layers of cardboard. Thats basicly what cholesterol does in the human cell. Gives it structural integrity betweeen the inner and outer cell wall.
