I think it's very interesting how you blame the victims for having a reaction to Avelox. I took Avelox in October 2007 and had no real noticeable reaction. Two months later I ended up with pneumonia and was prescribed another fluoroquinolone..this time Levaquin. I was hit HARD by this drug. Fluoroquinolones have a cumulative effect. You may not have noticed any real reaction this time, but if you ever take Avelox or any other fluoroquinolone again, you may be slammed with a terrible reaction. It happened to me and it's happened to thousands of others. I have met so many people in real life and online who are suffering from the serious effects of these drugs. Did you know that all the fluoroquinolones have been black boxed by the FDA? Did you know that in Europe, the makers of Avelox have sent physicians a "Dear Dr." letter warning them of the serious side effects of these drugs. Be very careful if you ever take them again. Avelox is know to cause very serious cardiac events called Long-QT syndrome. This syndrome could be fatal.
I had severe tendon issues (right knee and both ankles) following use of this drug. I am a fit 26-year-old, and so I can attest to the fact that the negative side effects do NOT only target people who are out of shape. I have never had a drug interaction as I did with this one - it took only 2 pills until the shooting pain in my legs began. It has been 7 months since I took Avelox, and I am still struggling with joint pain and tendonitis. In my opinion, this drug is poison.
I am 38 and in great shape and have taken Avelox before with no problem. Not the case now. My ankle is swollen again and has been since March repeatedly -- has everything to do with the medicine. I think it is great that you take care of yourself and you are proud of it but Avelox does not care what shape you are in. Its sad that you would automatically blame weight or physical shape on someone just because you did not experience any side effects - a little closed minded, don't ya think? MJ
Well, I am in excellent shape, and today is my 4th day. I am experiencing excruciating tendon pain. I walk a lot, but not today...I am lucky if I can limp.. My bicep tendons are burning as if on fire, not from exercise, but from this drug. It's bad news.... My Dr. took me off today and gave me Azythromycin... Now I need to get rid of the tendon pains, in my legs, ankles and shoulders....
