a diet that is naturally high in potassium and low in sodium will also control blood pressure and help with a bunch of other things too. and no cough.
but, you can't eat too much potassium when you are on lisinopril or it will cause you levels to spike dangerously
most fresh foods have lots of potassium and most processed foods have little. there's the irony for you
You're having a bad reaction to this drug. Find an alternative ASAP, before it gets worse and you have permanent lung damage.
I've been having luck with using throat spray just when I feel the first tingle of irritation.
I also added iron (from googling) and just in case it is an allergic reaction, have added generic claritin.
My cough hasn't been severe enough to gag or puke, but I try hard not to overeat because that definitely will cause me to upchuck if coughing gets too bad or I bend over for too long picking up stuff or cleaning.
Another thing that works for me, is eating a few fritos. They scratch my throat and it feels better. I don't have tonsils, so maybe that's why my coughing seems manageable. I really like how my bp has been down since taking L w/diuretic, and I am much, much more calm.
I don't want to stop using L until it is truly necessary.
I'm also taking meridia at the same time. Figure my bp is due to weight and stress. I've been taking the two for nearly 2 months. My bp went drastically down and I have lost about 10 pounds, perhaps more, but I don't want to be overly confident just yet.
Hope this helps.
