Ok so...I started taking Loestrin 24 almost a year ago and I can't really complain too much. I've had a few pregnancy scares because of missed periods but they were just that- missed periods. And there's nothing wrong missing a period or two imo :D About two weeks ago I ran out and couldn't refill so I neglected to take any pills for a week, figuring I would just pick back up when I could. I've since started taking them regularly again but in those two weeks my personality changed sooo much. In an attempt to describe myself I'd say I was...confused and depressed, for no real reason. My stomach was so messed up I don't even want to share the details. And the strangest thing... I've noticed two VERY SMALL spots (one on my upper thigh and one on my butt) that are slightly red and drier than the skin around it. I'm positive it's not an STD but I'm concerned nonetheless. In conclusion, I'm gonna take my pills regularly from now on. But seriously if anyone else has gotten weird small spots of dry skin, plz respond cause it's definitely worrying me a little.

phew! I used to get those small dry red spots too! Now I can safely assume they were caused by my pill. I took loestrin for about 3 years. I went to the dermatologist, he couldn't even diagnose it. he thought it was scorisis (spelling?). Well i'm almost sure it wasn't because the medicine he gave me for it didn't help and with time the spots went away. I had a bunch all over my body the first year on Loestrin. Lately I got like one or two if any (I just got off the pill this month). I suggest to leave them be unless they're itchy, burning, really really red, etc. I'm no doctor so I can't really tell you what to do, but in my experience they did me no harm. Hope this puts your mind at ease :)

I've been on Loestrin 24 for a month now and have experienced the same red spots on my back and shoulders. I have been so confused by them and thought it was an allergic reaction to something. In addition, I have been chugging Pepto-Bismal for the past three days b/c of seriously upset stomach. I have been thinking something is seriously wrong with me, so I've been looking up info and found this web site. I do feel kind of relieved that someone else has had the same side effects.

After reading lbrade1's reply it made me think how my stomach was always messed up too. I just thought I had gastrointestinal problems or something and blamed it on a weak stomach or whatever. Now that I'm off it I haven't had an upset stomach as often as I used to. hmmm Many pros for Loestrin such as reduced acne, no cramps, less irratable (for some) but the cons aren't so obvious like those you would see on other bc pills such as those red spots (which I'm so glad to finally realize other have experienced) and upset stomach. But anyways malahver, there are TONS of bc pills on the market if loestrin has more cons than pros for you, talk to your gyno to make a switch. Although from what all three of us have been discussing, it seems as if the spots are harmelss. :) good luck!

I too have small dry spots but they are not red... I have also been very itchy... is that a symptom of the pill?

I thought i was newly allergic to the clindamycin , BUT mabe it is all about the side effects of BCP (birth contro pills)?!?!? i am confused and concerned now...L

just an update...still waiting for this stupid spot to go away. the color changes throughout the day from like peach to a bright pink. it generally looks better when i wake up in the morning. no amount of lotion or vaseline or neosporin will get rid of it. still doesnt hurt or itch and i havent gotten any more of them. its just kinda there. tink3815...how long did it take for ur spot to go away??? im rdy to be rid of it.

yeah I'm into my second week of the second month of taking Loestrin 24 FE and i've had these spots on my body here and there that itch, and they turn to little bumps. they're mostly on my arms, and then i have a couple in my chest area. i have just thought that it's an allergic reaction to the birth control but now that I read some of the details and side effects other people have, i'm waiting it out til the 3rd month and hopefully it just goes away. If it doesn't go away, i'm going back to the doctor and talking to my doctor about maybe switching to something else?
