You really don't to make an appt. for your dr. I assume your dr. was the person who prescribed this dangerous drug. He knows the side effects . . .the drs. and the drug co's have a HUGE racket on the anti-cholesterol drugs . . big $$ . . while people suffer. I stopped taking this poison "cold turkey" for over a year and I still have side effects. I did talk to my dr. and he wanted me to take another statin even though I continue to have the side effects . . . . drs. are so drug-happy !!
Yes, many doctors are "drug-happy".
That`s why it`s so important to "educate" yourself by reading different books and searching for information on the Internet (not just the sites provided by pharmaceutical companies etc.!).
It´s your body and you know best how you feel.
If you want a "peak" into the pharmaceutical industry, as well, you can read Marcia Angells "The Truth About The Drug Companies".
All statins have similar side effects. Can come at once, or after many years when they often are diagnosed as something different - with more medications as a result - or as agerelated problems that you will have to live with!.
Here are som more sites that you can visit: www.spacedoc.net, www.peoplespharmacy.com (search for statins), www.ravnskov.nu, www.thincs.org.
Google "Stopped our statins"
Under print articles you will find several interesting articles. One that I like is from Weston Price Foudation.
So watch out - but that you should do with any medication - not just statins.
I have also read a book called - Death by prescription. It`s about interactions, OTC-medications, what questions you should ask your doctor in order to help yourself/and the people around you.
There are also some free articles at Public Citizen (www.worstpills.org) about drug induced diseases, side effects etc.
.
Your not crazy. You have statin poisoning.
Many people taking statins have said the same thing as you about feeling like your very old. And some people do appear to age quickly on statins. Many will claim to "feel 90 years old" even though they are in their 40's
Well, I find a justified reason for statins accelerating the aging process. Statins inhibit the mevalonate metabolic pathway. Not only does it deplete CoQ10 for cell energy, it depletes LDL cholesterol which has a very important job. LDL protiens carry cholesterol from the liver to the tissues of the body. Once on the job site, cholesterol goes to work making repairs to damaged cells and helping build strong new healthy cells. Also since your body makes its steroid hormones from LDL cholesterol, you may find your steroid hormone profile like a 90 year old.
No wonder people say "I feel like I am 90 years old."
I had all those symptoms and my hair fell out and my balance was off - then they gave me Crestor - same thing even at 2.5 mg. Has anyone found anything that works for high cholesterol without all these miserable symptoms?
dlw . . . .All statins can cause many side effects. Unfortunately, mosr drs. and the drug co's continue to push the anti-cholesterol drugs . . . it is all about big $$ business. In reality, yourmind/body needs cholesterol to function properly . . . .DON'T LET YOUR DR. TO CON YOU.
