Well, it's been 2 weeks since I had the Mirena removed. I am sooooo glad I did. My side effects, as I had posted a couple weeks ago included, constant spotting, moodiness, head fog, dizziness and (the worst one) 25 pounds of weight gain. All of these things have cleared up except the weight gain, but even that is getting better. I have lost about 10 of those pounds already and feel much less bloated. My doctor also tried to urge me to give it more time and insisted that my symptoms had nothing to do with the mirena. Well, if that were true, I would still have them, but I don't. Doctors should just accept the fact that Mirena isn't for everyone. I was also under the impression that you wouldn't even conceive while using the Mirena. Well, now I find out that that isn't necessarily true, that some women do conceive and then miscarry. Well, that isn't what I wanted in birth control. I want to prevent pregnancy not expel it. Well, I have a few years and then menopause will set in, that will be good enough.

I see you are only 2 weeks from the removal. I just wanted to warn you that you will probably have some recurrent spells reminiscent of the Mirena during PMS time and ovulation. I had Mirena removed Feb 14th, and had 2 wonderful weeks (minus one horrible day on day 10). However, every month, 1-2 weeks before my period, I am emotional, moody, depressed, no sex drive (in fact sex repulses me), and my limbs and joints ache so bad, just like I was before i had Mirena removed. Don't be discouraged. I was forewarned by some women on here that this may go on for months or even a year! Don't doubt your diagnosis, it IS the Mirena doing this to you. Feel free to click on my username to read my other posts. I tried to keep everyone abreast of my "remission"c so you all know what you might expect. Good luck!
