Started Lisinopril eight weeks ago and took it for three weeks. I suffered the consistent cough. However the worst was the altered taste. It is worse than just metallic, it is bitter and food taste can change mid-meal. The problem started after the first week taking the medication and has not gone away even though I am five weeks since the last dose. I am concerned as to how long it takes this side effect to go away.

I have pasted in some lines from another site - some lines about side effects of ACE-inhibitors, the name of the group that Lisinopril belongs to.

"...... An abnormal taste (metallic or salty), elevated blood potassium levels, and sexual dysfunction may also occur..... "

Cough is also a common side effect.

The best thing you can do for yourself/others is to educate yourself on medical issues such as medications etc. Most of the information comes from the pharmaceutical companies themselves - who also do most medical studies - or pays for them.

But you can find other information, as well, if you are persistent.

You can find more patient stories for instance on www.askapatient.com.

I have nothing to do with the health care or pharmaceutical businesses . Just an ordinary retired woman who got very angry when I saw the amount of medications that my father was put on.

So, look out. It`s not just about Lisinopril - it`s about all medications. The benefits are overplayed and the risks are dismissed.

Why not read - Overdosed America (John Abramson) or The Truth about The Drug Companies by Marcia Angell?
