Osteopenia is not a disease nor is it a precursor of osteoporosis. You need to do more research on bisphosphonates (Boniva, et al) if you are going to continue to take this dangerous med. Most dentists won't do extractions or extensive dental work on patients taking these drugs. Find the book "The Myth of Osteoporosis" and then decide for yourself. I wish you well.
I have just started taking Boniva in May. I have noticed that my sense of taste and smell is not what it used to be before I started this medication. I thought I must be loco!! Glad I went on line to see if anyone else has the same problem.
I am an avid cook and find it difficult to taste the food I prepare to adjust for seasoning etc. It's a bummer!!
I previously took Actonel and found it caused heart palpitations in me. My doctor thought I was nutsey when I told him. He said he had never heard of such a thing. Even the druggist said the same thing. Since stopping Actonel I have read on line that some people are bothered that way with Actonel. I hope that Boniva does't do the same thing as I have moderately advanced osteoporosis.
