I got the Mirena inserted in the beginning of December 2008. About three weeks later, I started having excruciating pain in my right side. It went from the bottom of my rib cage to my hip bone. The pain is sporadic and intense, but I haven't had any bleeding. Has anyone else had the stomach cramps without the bleeding?

I have had the Mirena in for the second time now and I too have had the exact pain that you have described. I was just going on line to see if what I am experiencing is common amongst others. I am constantly taking Neurofen and am in pain probably 3 weeks out of the 4. The fourth week is the period pain which we all know and hate. So I now what you are going through

I was in pain for the first 4 months after I got it inserted. It has been 17 months now and I am getting Mirena removed because of decrease of sex drive, discomfort and weight gain. (25 lbs)..... I have had regular periods every month. . . I think I am a bit more moody with it inserted too....

Hi there, i had mirena for four months and didnt bleed but i also had the severe cramping, the pain was terrible, i would be bent over double... you are not alone, i think many of the women who have this inserted experience this... although the gynea who inserted this dismissed it as a side affect, you only have to read the stories on here, they are very consistant.. luckily i have had mine removed now, the best thing i ever did
