My doctor put me on Topamax for ADD.... I am a 37 year old woman ...

I just found this post by accident. I also am on Topomax 200mg daily. I have tingling in my feet especially in my heels. I find myself being very forgetful. I will be doing somthing and completly forget what I was doing. I am also having speech problems. This is very frustrating to me. I don't know that I could ever go off the medication. When I first went on the medication I lost a total of 80lbs. This was very scary. It seems now that I can eat whatever I want and not gain a pound. This is weird. I heard that the FDA is trying to approve the RX for weight loss. Just wanted to post my problems too. Trish 30yr old

My son has ADD because it is a side effect of his steroids. He cannot take any other medication to control it though. His doctor actually told us that before Ritalin and all of these fancy drugs with tremendous side effects came out, everything was based on caffeine. He is 6 years old right now and we give him chocolate covered espresso beans of all things. What happens with ADD is the body and the brain can't work at an equal level so when you introduce the caffeine, it speeds up the slower side and moves it up to an equal level with other. You can buy them in the bulk bin at any supermarket or even buy yourself an espresso if you like coffee. Try it, and you may see a difference in minutes. If it works for you, pass it along. It's a lot more natural... and even kids can use it and keep it in the classroom. My son's teacher can give it to him whenever she feels it necessary- he even asks for one sometimes!
